Zumwalt Bad Boys Dream Team Rip This
Dodging Daschunds Green Goblins

The American League East gives birth to 2 of the best teams in dodgeball history (the 2006 Champion Zumwalt Bad Boys and the 2007 Champion Dream Team). Both are heavily favored to be back in the title race again.

The Dream Team returns pretty much the same roster that won last season, led by the dynamic duo of "Ironhead" Hayworth and a man known as the "Master of Disaster." These two gunslingers can fire upwards of 70 mph and have spent the off-season training by dodging crumbly burgers at the Elsberry Drive-In. Meanwhile, the Bad Boys are back with a chip on their shoulder. This franchise that once won 21 consecutive games (an all time record), has gutted some of the more negative influences that made some teams see them in a dark light. They replaced them with some perennial all-pros giving them a line-up of potentially 5 all conference players. Brennan Lowrey has been working on his catching abilities and 2006 MVP Corey Hertel is back to full force.

The other three teams of this division are a bit of a dropoff compared to the top two stars according to most commentators. The Green Goblins, Rip This!, and the Dodging Daschunds. The Green Goblins, led by Nathan "Hale" Hudson is one of the most unpredictable teams in the league. All Goblins are great athletes and former basketball players, but can they adjust to the rigors of the dodgeball battlefield remains to be seen. Rip This! is made up of a bunch of Lacrosse players who throw wooden balls at each for practice, and the Dodging Daschunds are a retro 2005 team led by Wil "Rogers" Hanke, a veteran Marine from the Iraq War (no kidding).

Shoop Da Woop Bandits Extra Ordinaryz The Bros

The A.L. Central is the most evenly divided division in all of the EMDA. To be honest, experts are having hard time predicting first from last and last from first. If all four teams finished the season 15-15, no one would be shocked. But, Vegas has their money on the Bandits.

The Bandits are making their boys league debut after two consecutive years in the Co-Ed division, winning the title last year. Guys like Brandt and Whisman has spent the off-season robbing banks while wearing handkerchiefs over their noses, and they play like the cops can't catch them. "You can't hit what you can't see," said Whisman.

The Extra Ordinaryz are not going to sit still and let the bandits rob their bank. This group of men have been practicing for over a year on Thursday nights, and have assembled enough talent to win the whole tourney. The "Con-Man" Connor Herrick has placed this team together, along with a host of others who all spent a weekend in March on a retreat together to hone in their skills.

Rounding out the division is Shoop Da Woop and The Bros. SDW, like the Extra Ordinaryz, have played a lot of dodgeball. Nate "Grab the Bull By the Horns" Turnbull and Kyle "Lightning Bolt" Holtkamp are ready to role. For the Bros, ubertalented Austin "Powers" Steinbecker runs the show. These leaders are going to see to it that they make the tourney.

Four One-O Wu Tang Ball Boys Merzenaries
636 Boys Stingrays

The Twin Towers of the A.L. West are clearly the Stingrays and the 636 Boys, and this is no friendly rivalry. Big Ben Johnson of the 'Rays may just be the most powerful thrower in the whole league, Kevin "Honey" Combs provides the spice that makes this group of sea monster so deadly. However, the Boys from the 636 area code pledge once again to be the best team in the county, only time will tell.

Last season, one of the highest achieving teams were the Dudley Boyz, fixtures of this league for years. The Dudleys are no more, in their stead, is the Wu Tang Ball Boys and 410. Who is better? Justin "Blue" says his team is, and that he will prove it during the course of the season. But these two former friends are in the same division for a reason, and the rivalry will be heated. What's my prediction? Pain!

Finally, Peter "the Great" Merz will lead his team of hired soldiers on his self-named team called the Merzenaries. A spin off of last year's Mean Machines, Peter has taken his troops through the jungles in Grenada and the murky waters of the everglades for training.

"I felt that if our team could dodge crocodiles, we could dodge balls," spews a sincere Merz with a sadistic gleam in his eye. Time will tell.

Fu Manchu Chuck Norrises Meteorites
Plaid Zuchinnis Tazing Geckos

The Middle School division has almost doubled its number of teams this season, up to 5. Last year, there was a clear Numero Uno, the E-Town Rangers (the best Middle School team of all time, and probably forever). But E-Town graduated 8th grade, so new names and new faces make up this league.

The favorite has got to be the Plaid Zuchinnis, made up some of the overlow of last year's Rangers. Chris "the Strong Arm of the Law" honorably put this team together. But they will be challenged. The Tazing Geckos, some of Wright City's finest, is bringing their horsepower from the West Coast of St. Chuck County to the EMDA Zone. Led by the Sir Roland & Joe "Louis" Watson, they have their guns on full blast (though the Geckos may start in a hole for their schedule starts a bit tougher than the other MS teams for the first 2 weeks).

Finally, FBC/LSL has produced three of its own teams. The Meteorites are led by the "Loop to Loop Connection" of Scott and Brian, as well as Spencer "For Hire" Black and the Crimanator. The Chuck Norrises use their Chunk Kung Do fighting skills to chop people down to size. Expect Ben-Jamin' McAdoo and John "King" Clause to lead this team, with the outlandish antics of everyone's favorite dodgeballer Jeff "Big Tokyo" Easterwood. As for Fu Manchu, the Housleys and John Scott have all grown beards for the occasion.

The Flood Krazy Crusaders Dodge This! Real Real Ridiculously Good Looking People

With "Not to Mess With" and "The Cuts" out of the Co-ed equation, the title is open to anyone. Could it be the year for the N.L.Central favorites...Dodge This? Led by the Ken "Robin Hood" Arndt and his band of merry peeps, they can win the whole league if they play like they finished last year. But not if Real Real Ridiculously Good Looking People has anything to say about it. Led by "The Lion Tamer," these Hollister dressed dodgeballers could also reign supreme. If they don't, at least they'll be the best dressed.

Rounding out the N. L. Central is the Krazy Crusaders and The Flood--both are church youth groups who are joining the league for the friendly competition and for recreational fun. "Good King" Louie will lead the knights of the Crusaders, while Dean's Sour Cream hope to flood the gym with a lowfat tasty treat--and numerous victories. It is great to have these new teams to our league, and we wish them massive success.

The only advice would be to bring your "A Game" on Opening Day.

Saints Vicious Vixens Raunchy Burritos
Dueces Wild Outlaws

Most experts feel the N.L. West is stronger than the N.L Central, and that it arguably has the three best teams in Co-Ed (Saints, Raunchy Burritos, & Dueces Wild).

The Saints are a university team led by the "Michael Jordan of Dodgeball" AJ Fox. Fox has been on the 2006 Co-Ed Champs, the 2007 Runner-Up, and the 2006 National Dodgeball Championship team (no kidding, Fox can dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge as good as Patches O'Houlihan). Moreover, he has a plethora of players at his disposal whenever he wants them.

The Raunchy Burritos are a legendary team with historic roots led by the Tin Man. The Tin Man is an excellent leader and is sure to have recruited a volatile team. The wild card of the division, Deuces Wild, led by commissioner Tom Papez, is sure to be competitive. "The Ape" has recruited an all-star group of people such as James "Woof Woof" Wofford & Demetrius "King" James. When playing a Papez team, always expect a challenge.

Making this division even more complete is the 2007 girls champions...the Vicious Vixens. Led by Haley "Pow Pow" Powell who has joined forced with Hali "Berry" Whitfield, the team should be formidable.

Finally, making their EMDA debut is a team from Double Cross Ranch Texas, the Outlaws. The family lineage of team leader Matt Hopkins include the criminal minds of Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Black Bart, Terry Funk & Mrs. Butterworth. Team member Lanh Thai is just as gruesome, opponents better beware!
