Synergy
Synergy - is the combined action or functioning; synergism. If the last few weeks are any indicator of what God can do when we join him in ministry, then I don't know what it is. The first few weeks at First Baptist Church has been amazing. We have seen some exciting things happen since my arrival. The last four weeks we have been averaging 30 students on Wednesday nights and have had several new faces in the crowd. We had a high of 31 students in Sunday School and seem to be attracting many new people here as well. We had 45 people come to our 5th Quarter. We have 30 students signed up to help at our Operation S.S. We seem to growing in every aspect of our student ministry.
FAMILY MINISTRY:
Currently we are working our way through a book titled “Shepherding a Child’s Heart”. This has been an exciting study for those who have attended. In the spring I want to offer a parenting class for parents of teenagers. We will be limiting the class size, so if you are interested in attending please sign up as soon as possible.
STUDENT MINISTRY:
Student Ministry Team:
I am excited to announce that we have some wonderful people who are stepping up to work in our Student Ministry Program. David and Angela Winklemeier along with Tony Diesel have been helping in our student program at Prime Time. We have some new individuals who have stepped up to help teach Sunday School in our student ministry. Tim Kreitner will be teaching Middle School Boys. Penni Martin and Alyssa Gennarelli will teach Middle School Girls. We are still seeking other people to join our teaching staff. We need someone to help Tim, and others who would be willing to teach the High School classes. If you are interested in helping develop our “infrastructure” then please contact David in the student ministry office.
Operation O.S.S. – November 20 @ 8:30-2:30. (Note the time change. We added an hour to our service project due the number of requests for our service. We will be taking our student to various sites to help with odd and end service projects in our community. We will need drivers and some additional help. Please Contact David Martin for more information.
Mary & Martha – December 11. We will postpone our involvement with this wonderful mission program for the new year.
Christmas Party – December 22 @ 6:30. “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. Students will be encouraged to dress as their favorite Peanuts Character. Their will be some great prizes awarded for the best costume. We will have a “White Elephant Gift Exchange”. Gifts need not exceed $7. Some additional rules are: Nothing alive, or recently alive, and nothing that can naturally be found in a bathroom.
New Years Eve – This New Years Eve we will be hosting a party for our students and their friends. Details will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
Disciple Now – March 11-13 - Collision – “the meeting of particles or of bodies in which each exerts a force upon the other, causing the exchange of energy or momentum, often occurring in a change of direction.”
Disciple Now (DNOW) is a local weekend retreat. Each spring we will host a weekend retreat that will offer our students and their families some dynamic Preaching, Teaching, and Worship. We will be looking for people willing to open their homes for small groups of students to stay. Other needs will be for Sunday School Classes, Mission Organizations and families that would be willing to support these “host homes” with meals and/or transportation to and from the church. Annually, This is one of the biggest weekends in the life of our student ministry. If you are interested in finding out more information about this great event, then please feel free to contact me at the student ministry office.
CHILDRENS MINISTRY
Parent Meeting
I want to say “Thank You” to the parents and Children’s Ministry workers who attended out meeting. I am excited about the direction that our Children’s Program is heading. At this meeting we discussed several needs that we have in our children’s program. I need a third couple or group who would be willing to help shoulder the load for our Kids Worship service. This would help provide some relief to those faithful workers who have been at the “helm” these many months. We also need parents who would be willing to take a turn and sit in the Kids Worship Service. This will help provide a lot of support to our workers who are there. No one needs to do everything, but if everyone did something then it would be great.
Fall Family Fun Fest
Thank You to the families and individuals who helped make this a wonderful event. We had 26 individuals venture out to Thies Farm with us. It was an exciting time of fellowship.
Parent’s Night Out – December 3 @ 6:00 – 10:00 in the Harbor.
Parents, do you need a night out? Need some time to do that Christmas shopping for the kiddos. Well bring your kids to the church from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and let our students watch your kiddos. This will be a Pajama Party, so come dressed in your pajamas and be ready to have a good time. We are asking that each parent bring a snack to share. (Dinner will not be served, so please feed your kids prior to coming.)
